Women’s Health

Please note that not all products and services listed below are available to PerformPlus groups.

Women’s health is a key priority for us, in keeping with our commitment to gender equity and inclusion.  Although women make up just over half of Canada’s population,1 they remain under-represented in medical research, and investment in women's health continues to fall short. Fertility issues are one part of the equation.

  • Women spend 24% more time in poor health than men.2
  • Around 17% of the world’s population faces fertility challenges.3
  • Surrogacy rates in Canada have gone up by 400% in the last 10 years.4

Enhanced Family Focus offer

To provide additional support around fertility issues, we broadened the offer to include surrogacy costs such as:

  • Fertility drugs and treatments
  • Pregnancy-related tests and screening
  • Certain non-medical expenses*

Note that not all products and services listed below are available to groups with 49 or less plan members. Please refer to your brochure to find out what coverages apply to your plan members.

New and continuing partnerships

Building on our Women’s Health Focus offer, we teamed up with key organizations to boost awareness and support of women’s health issues. In particular, we:

  • Worked with Women’s Health Collective Canada to sponsor a women’s health awareness campaign
  • Partnered with Sword Health to provide access to pelvic floor physiotherapy
  • Renewed our partnership with Prenato for pregnancy-related support and counselling

These partnerships give plan members access to preferred pricing. Expenses may be eligible for reimbursement under their group insurance plan.

Industry leadership

We took part in various industry events to talk about conditions that specifically affect women, or that affect them differently. Topics included:

  • Approaches to women’s health at work
  • Fertility and post-natal care
  • Women’s cardiovascular health
