Cancer care

  3. The 5-year net survival rate for all cancers combined is roughly 64%.3

Cancer is one of the most prevalent and devastating diseases in Canada, affecting people at all stages of life. In the fall, we launched our Cancer Care Focus offer to give policyholders and plan members the tools they need to deal with a cancer diagnosis. We’re the first group insurer in Canada to tackle this difficult subject head-on with a specific offer. The product offering consists of the following key features (Note that not all products and services listed below are available to groups with 49 or less plan members. Please refer to your brochure to find out what coverages apply to your plan members.):

  • Screening tests and preventive care
  • Second medical opinion
  • Cooling caps to protect hair during chemotherapy
  • Nutrition services
  • Return-to-work support

Recent partnerships

Our strategic collaborations promote support and awareness. They also make it easier to access cancer care and services. Here are the organizations we teamed up with in 2025 and the added value they provide.

  • Cancer and Work and the Quebec Cancer Coalition: In partnership with these organizations, we sponsored an employer survey on best practices following an employee’s cancer diagnosis. These recommendations are designed to help employers take practical steps to create more inclusive workplaces and provide stronger support for employees during and after cancer treatment.
  • OncoHelix: By offering coverage for advanced cancer biomarker testing, we empower people to make informed decisions about their care.
  • Sword Health: Plan members and their dependents have access to online physiotherapy for cancer rehabilitation, including personalized care plans, all guided by AI technology.
  • Constant Health: This partner provides specialized online nutritional support for plan members living with cancer.

These partnerships give plan members access to preferred pricing. Expenses may be eligible for reimbursement under their group insurance plan.

Industry leadership

We took part in several industry events that addressed the challenges and impacts of cancer.

  • The 2025 HR Leaders Summit, where we presented the Cancer and Work survey and discussed practical ways to support employees with cancer. We were also the major sponsor of this event.
  • A symposium by Quebec Cancer Coalition on the human and economic challenges of cancer and work in the 21st century.
  • The Healthy Workplace Roundtable, hosted by Benefits Canada, on the current state of cancer in Canada and the impact on group insurance plans.
