Tips for implementing a mental health strategy

According to the organizations consulted, stress, anxiety, burnout, work/life balance issues, and depression are expected to be the top mental health challenges over the next five years. To help employees cope with emerging mental health needs, organizations can implement comprehensive strategies to help build healthy, engaged workforces by:

Helping employees with the cost of mental healthcare.
Making sure employees are aware of and understand how to use the mental healthcare support available to them through their benefits plan.
Being able to identify employees at risk of mental health issues so they can be proactively engaged with appropriate support and resources through their benefits plan.
Helping employees overcome barriers to accessing mental healthcare and support, such as fear of being stigmatized or loss of employment.
Ensuring that employees who go on mental health-related disability leave receive support for a sustainable return to work.
Putting a communication plan is in place to better inform employees about what their benefits plan offers.
